Swanage is a small seaside resort on the Jurassic Coast of Dorset which comes alive with hundreds of Morris dancers in their bright costumes and jingling bells, and folk music lovers, every year for the weekend on the second Friday after the August Bank Holiday Monday.

Folk music followers flock to the concerts, join-in sessions, and try something new at workshops. The festival features a number of concerts in the Mowlem Theatre and music in the main marquee on Sandpit Field.

Energetic festival goers can dance the Saturday night away at our ceilidh, with our resident caller, Gordon Potts.

All sorts of crafts are on show in a marquee, and trade stalls offer a variety of fair trade and ethnic goods for sale.

The whole town joins in the festivities with many pubs offering music in the evenings.

There is something for everyone, including activities for children.

The Folk Festival coincides with the Steam Railway Gala Weekend making it a very busy one all round.

Accommodation in the town is limited so early booking is advised.
